The perfect place to relax for a few days in autumn? The VillaVerde Aparthotel in Algund near Merano. A historic Art Nouveau villa dating from 1908, which has been extended with a modern new building with a lot of feeling and style. The result is a kind of total work of art in the middle of a park with a dream view of the mountains. This house is managed by three women of the hotelier family Oberhofer-Kiniger. Heidi and her daughters Judith and Paula set special accents throughout the hotel with unique finds from flea markets and antique shops.
The colourful wallpapers with plant and animal motifs were created especially for the hotel by the creative studio Peppis from South Tyrol.
Each of the 35 bright, fully equipped feel-good apartments has either a small garden or a terrace with mountain views. Vintage fans will love the two 75 square metre apartments in the art nouveau villa: In addition to a freestanding bathtub, historical wall paintings and high ceilings, selected old pieces of furniture adorn the furnishings of these rooms.
Every morning from 7:30 am to 11 am, chef Hannelore and her team serve homemade jams and other delicacies, accompanied by fresh organic bread specialities from the region, muesli and egg dishes. The ingredients come from local farmers, beekeepers and dairies. Wonderfully relaxing: the "Salone" spa with its three relaxation rooms overlooking the park, plus bio-sauna, steam bath and outdoor Finnish sauna. Guests can plunge into the 25-metre-long heated outdoor pool or the natural swimming pond at their leisure. Fancy a city trip to the centre of Merano, which is about ten minutes away? The hotel has its own e-bikes (apartment per night from approx. 259 €, www.villaverde-meran.com).
